January

In January, Heartland contracted the most acreage for industrial hemp production in our history – over 2000 acres in Michigan alone. Read about it here

February

February marked the start of Greentown Labs GoMove Workshops for the year. Heartland enthusiastically joined the initiative, working towards automotive industry decarbonization under the excellent guidance of the sponsoring partners BASF and Magna, whose leadership was vital to our success. March

In March, Heartland proudly introduced the Engage Software Platform, a powerful addition to our technological innovations. Engage is designed to enable manufacturers to calculate their emissions in minutes.

That month Heartland was also accepted into the gener8tor 1915 Studios program in partnership with Georgia Pacific.

April

Our CMO, John Ely, achieved recognition in April, winning the prestigious OnCon Icon Marketer Award. His leadership and contributions to the marketing field were celebrated. Read more

Heartland celebrated the graduation from the Greentown Labs GoMove Program in May, 2023, showcasing our commitment to sustainable practices. Read more here

June

In June, Heartland marked another milestone with graduation from the gener8tor gBeta Program, conducted in partnership with Georgia Pacific and their Neenah Technical Center. Read about it

July

Heartland took a significant step in July by planting over 2000 acres of industrial hemp in Michigan, contributing over 15% of America’s supply of industrial hemp fiber.

August

August witnessed Heartland achieving a major production milestone by capping our first commercial processing efforts with a throughput exceeding 30,000 lbs. of Imperium Masterbatch per day.

September

Heartland made its presence felt at the Detroit Auto Show 2023, showcasing our commitment to automotive innovation and sustainability through decarbonization of plastics in the industry.

October

In October, John shared his expertise on decarbonizing automotive plastics at the CARES 2023 Detroit conference, highlighting Heartland’s dedication to sustainability. Learn more about CARES.

November

We celebrated a bountiful harvest in November, with Heartland harvesting over 2000 acres of industrial hemp in Michigan. Our largest crop in the history of the company! 

December

December was a month of significant partnerships and production milestones. Heartland partnered with the Hemp Fiber and Grain Association, reinforcing our commitment to the hemp industry. Discover HFGA 

Additionally, we initiated commercial production of the 2023 harvest, and began processing over 5 million pounds of industrial hemp fiber.

Yes, 2023 was a banner year for us at Heartland, but there’s even more in store for 2024!
