The plastic market is a $568B annual revenue industry that has sprouted from nothing over the last four decades. Once hemp makes up 22.5% of a plastics weight, companies have the ability to sell and market their product as a bioplastic.

Industrial hemp is mostly cellulose, the original polymer, and can be a 1 for 1 alternative to things like talc, calcium carbonate, glass fibers, and carbon fibers. Each of these additives has a different purpose in plastics.

  • Hemp fibers add reinforcement attributes that can replace a carbon fiber or glass fiber.
  • Hemp hurd is a strong cellulose base that can replace talc or calcium carbonate. 

These materials cost less than their synthetic alternatives, and provide customers with the comfort that they are helping the environment by reducing their carbon footprint.
